The concern with them eating it is those first few days they're just learning to eat, period, and they may become confused and think the PDZ is actually food, and overeat it. You want them eating as much chick starter as possible out the gate. It's not that it's toxic, it's that they could starve themselves if they don't learn to eat their feed well.

The granules aren't that dusty, so they would be fine once the chicks understand what is good to eat. It's like a large particle sand, in size.

Thank you, that's all I wanted to know. As I replied earlier, I use puppy pads for a couple weeks and I also use a chick feed tray. That's why I'm not concerned about them eating it. Thank you very much!!

Ah, I missed where you said you would be using pads first. It should be fine then.
