Sweet PDZ?

I paid mine between $13 and $15 (depending of the feed store) but i live in So Cal so the price might be different where you live. I love that stuff!!! I mix it with a little of DE and add it under the roosts (in the pooping board). Everyday, I just have to spend 10 minutes to scoop, it's so easy and the coop doesn't smell at all!

I like the idea of this but knowing my chickens they would just sleep in the poop try and use it as a dust bath instead.

My girls dustbathe on the poop deck. But they do wait until I’ve scooped it!

If you clean it daily there won't be much poop to sleep in.
Some of mine do sleep there.
I also keep the PDZ very thin, ~1/8", so not much to bathe in, tho they try once in a while.

Lol @aart my girls couldn’t care less if there’s only a quarter-inch of PDZ on the deck, they’ll still give it a whirl! They LOVE to dustbathe in the coop when I’m scooping poop. On the deck, on the floor, as long as they’re right in the way, they’re happy!

I toss handful of scratch out in the run to keep them out of the way while I clean, where they also have plenty of places to dust bathe. Gotta outsmart them

DE is diatomaceous earth~ You only want the food grade powder, the crystals are poisonpis. The food grade powder is fantastic. Do not get in eyes. No chemicals like pool grade, slices up exoskeltons (bugs)qwikincluding lice/
