One of our ducks has a lot of swelling on her middle "toe". There is also a redness and a moderately large scab on the bottom of her foot, but doesn't have the tell-tale black scab of bumble-foot. The foot is also hot to the touch.

Could this just be the beginning stages of bumble-foot?

We've been soaking her foot every night in warm epsom salt water and wrapping it up with antibiotics at night ever since she started limping, around a week ago, but the swelling doesn't seem to have gone down much. She has stopped limping for the most part, but still holds her foot up when she's standing.

Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks

(Will post pictures tomorrow)

Could be the beginning of Bumble foot?......Could the Duck possibly have a prickle stuck in her foot?....Is it oozing anything?.....The Epsom bath is a great idea along with the ointment and bandage..:).....

Best wishes..:)

That looks like an infection...

.....Not sure if it is a sign of bumble foot..

Do you suggest anything else we can do? She seem's to be getting along fine but because of the swelling when she puts her foot down the whole foot doesn't touch the ground, it curves up.

Keep soaking it or it might need to be lanced?...:(.....Yikes..:(....You can also soak it and pick off the scab and squeeze out the puss...? I'm sure it has something in it?........

Ok, I guess we'll watch for another week and if the swelling doesn't go down we might have to perform "surgery". I was just worried that lancing or picking off the scab might make it worse.

A vet would be the best..;)....But if you can pick off the scab yourself and drain it?...It might be a simple fix?.....

Hmmmm?....Hard to say?

Here a picture from tonight after soaking in Epsom salt for 5-10 minutes:

The scab seems to be almost clear with redness on top... it's really hard, I tried squeezing it to see if the scab would come off, but it wouldn't budge. I think I'll soak for longer (20 min?) tomorrow and try to take it off. It's really painful for my duck when I squeeze it... :(
