Swollen around the ear!

You have to be careful with anything you use on a chicken. Some ingredients they are allergic to. You can check the ingredient list of your daughters ear cleaner and see if it has any "-cain" related pain relievers in it. Chickens are allergic to pain relievers......if you do use it, i would also dilute it to be on the safe side.

Personally, i would use betadine and water. You can get it from your local feed store if you havent got any. And pack it with neosporin. I'm about to read the posts above, never heard of a chicken ear infection before!

Okay, so it seems to me the verdict on antibiotics for ear infections is Penicillin G injectable. You can get it from the feed store in the refridgerator section. It is used for many types of infections & is very strong. Seems to me like if this is an ear infection there is a risk of it getting to his brain which is NOT good. I would get the Penicliin and betadine asap. Also get syringes and 20-22 gauge needles. Duramycin is not indicated for much except respiratory issues, and even then, i don't think it's very stong.

I have saved detailed instructions somewhere on my computer about using penicliin and also, step by step instructions on how to give a chicken an injection. Let me know if you want them and I'll find the links for you.

It's not hard, really.....
Good luck~!
