I have a chick 9 weeks old with a swollen crop. I have taken her from the coop and removed food and water for 24 hours then introduced water back to her. Do some chicks just have swollen crops?? This is the 2 nd time this particular chick has had this issue. Can anyone help me with a cure or is this normal??

Are you sure it’s not just a full crop? Any chance you have pictures?

What time of day do you remove her? Does the crop empty by morning? Palpitate the crop, is it solid (impacted), gravelly (normal food), squishy like a waterballoon? Also, feed type and access to grit?

She may just eat a bit more than siblings… Or, if she gets run off the food sometimes she may gorge herself when she can.
