Swollen eye and cheek.

You dont have to use chemicals, as long as you clean them it will reduce the chance of illnesses. I dont even use chemicals, just an abrasive sponge and scrub the waterers under water. But i have rainwater and natural ponds, but the seven waterers that I use I keep clean and scrub every other day at least. I noticed that having cleaner water reduces problems.

Bleach or iodine would work too. Vinegar isnt really a strong disinfectant, but more important is just using an abrasive sponge and water.

How is the eye swelling doing?
It's a little better today. He did not like being forced meds but he isn't a people person to begin with. Hasn't foamed since yesterday as far as I've seen. And swelling is down a tiny bit.

The swelling is pretty much completely gone. I would have updated sooner but the last two days have been spent deep cleaning coops and pens. He still hates takes meds. Husband is covered in cuts from being bit and scratched by him when he has to pick him up. Only two more days left and he can go back to hating us from afar 😂

That is good to hear that swelling and foam have gone. Since the Tylan worked, it may well be MG. He may not ever have symptoms again, but since it is a chronic disease he or others could one day have the same symptoms. Most people keep a closed flock with a chronic respiratory disease since any chicken could be a carrier, and and MG can pass through hatching eggs. The eggs are fine to eat, however.
