Swollen eye treated

I put a warm wet cotton ball on the eye to soften the dried matter so I could open it. When I was finally able to look it was clear there was a ton of infection. I gently wiped out what I could. I was not going to put sharp objects in the eye as shown on some videos.
I am now mostly flushing the eye with saline. Woman at tractor supply said it was infection due to respiratory issues. Hen sounds fine but is under the weather. Keeping her indoors and providing tasty food to eat. Still too early to know if she will make it but I see improvement.
Sorry,.I have another question. What tasty food are you providing? I'm going to try to take her to a farm vet tomorrow. I need to know what she has and if it has spread to my flock.

Didn’t ask for help before but would like some advice now.
when I first treated the eye it was very swollen and I got a lot of pus out. Since then I have rinsed and applied antibiotic eye cream twice a day. There has been little change the past few days. Still a fair amount of pus but not so swollen.
I’m wondering if I should let the pus build up so it will come out. Sort of like a pimple. Also concerned eye will become resistant to antibiotic eye cream.
in general the hen is feeling better and is out with the flock which makes her much happier.

I would treat with an oral antibiotic that treats MG, such as Tylosin, doxycycline, oxytetracycline, or Baytril. Baytril is not approved for MG, and has a long egg withdrawal.

Yes I could not find anything in the stores I tried. The hen seems pretty well in herself so I will wait a little longer. Got some pus out last night. I’m keeping a close eye on her.
Thanks again for your responses.

Just an update on hen. She is doing well in general although there is still some infection in her eye. I clean it once a day and apply ointment. It is not really swollen any longer. Her appetite is good and she tolerates me bringing her in each evening for treatment and snacks.
