swollen foot following bumblefoot and vet visit - need advice

In your opinion, do you think an x-ray is necessary? I really don't think there is a fracture, so couldn't you just treat with the assumption it's infection?

IMO, the so-called "broken toe" just looks to be swelling on the side of the toe. I think he is trying to get $ from you. I would start the antibiotics the vet prescribed.

Okay, thanks. The vet's response said something about 7-day injection (would need to be repeated). Do you think that means I would need to have one every day for 7 days? I'm sure I'll find out this afternoon, but just trying to gear myself up for his response.
it's probably a long lasting antibiotic. So two shots 7 days apart. But ask and let us know.

So my duck's toe seems more swollen than before the injection, which she had Friday. Is this typical? The vet's front desk said that sometimes you don't see results until after the 2nd injection. I can just hear it now though - they're going to suggest an x-ray and even more treatment. I have spent sooo much money at the vet for no results over the past 6 months - ugh. When I first brought Polly in I paid $170 for the visit and antiobiotics for two ducks - which didn't help either of them. Now it's $60 per injection and judging by the way it's not getting better I'm sure they're going to say I'll need to go for the third. Just ranting here, and feeling sad that the swelling around the toe isn't getting better. Anyone ever use doxycylcine injections before? The duck still gets around pretty well and eats and drinks fine.
