I have a pekin duck named pretzle and she has a swollen hock/leg... I have taken her to the vet and the vet says that she needs the fluid drained off her knee. However, the avian flu is really bad here in WA state and they cannot take Pretzle(or any birds) into the clinic to do the draining. They came out to the car to examine her.
I am contemplating draining the fluid off her knee myself, however I dont have any experience directly with doing so. I am curious if anyone else has had to do this or has any advice?
