I had one once that had a similar swelling which turned out to be pus from an infection that might have entered when she ripped of her toenail. Being the way I am I decided to drain it, which confirmed it was pus, then I started her on antibiotics.

@Matzwd, I am not suggesting you try draining it, especially since you're taking her to a vet!

The main difference between our two birds is mine was dead lame and yours is not.

No, that's weird, right? She doesn't like me to put any pressure on it though. She has slept on the coop floor twice in the last week. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with her leg. Roost is only 12-14 inches off the floor.

Mine was squishy and I was able to drain about 3 ml from her leg.

I called the local vet and described thr swollen leg, and he had me come by to pick up an antibiotic, oxytetracycline. I'm going to try it to see if it makes a difference. It goes in the drinking water. They said to put the entire bag in a gallon of water and then to mix 1 ounce of solution in a gallon if water daily. Is there any way to just mix into water what is needed daily so i can save some for future use? I'm guessing that, once dissolved in water, it will expire much more rapidly.

Measure out the bag in teaspoons, then do the math to make a smaller amount of solution. That's what I do with SavAChick....tho not sure how the AB powder will 'keep'.
