Swollen legs on 3 year old Astralorp

Have you researched gout, a type of kidney disease in chickens that can cause swelling of the legs and feet?  It is sometimes caused by eating too high of protein feed as adults or too much calcium as chicks (as in chicks eating layer feed.)

Will look now! Not one I thought of at all!

Save the pic to your local drive somewhere easy to locate. When replying to a post, you will find and icon at the top toward the right, just left of what looks like an old style film strip. When you hover over it, it will say 'Insert Image'. Click on the icon and find your pic, then upload. Just a thought but is it the entire limb or the joints? Possible Mycoplasma Synoviae?

I think that disease is closely linked with egg laying, so my next question would be has your hen laid any abnormal eggs, or stopped laying all together recently?
