Anyone have any idea what this might be? She’s had it at least five days. She has no respiratory symptoms. She is 1-2 years old. Other side of the face is normal. She does not act sick. Is laying. I have around 200 chickens. None of the others have this.
How do they feel—soft and puffy or firm? They could be akin abscesses from a peck, or could be cysts or tumors. If a vet is out of the question, I would be tempted to disinfect the skin, open them with a sterilized needle or knife blade, and try to squeeze something out. There might be pus, liquid, or just blood. Pus coming out would probably mean that they are abscesses. Chicken pus can be thick and cheese-like. Some viruses, such as leukosis and Mareks, can cause skin tumors.
