Tacky coop & run contest ****Update: It's time to vote!!!!!***

I feel a lot better about my coop/run now. My coop is an old tin shed with add-on plywood nestboxes that stick out one side (unpainted, of course) and its rusty. The run is a chainlink dog kennel.
But who can complain. I desperately needed something because I had to move (leaving behind an even more tacky setup- was the coop an outhouse in another life? Who knows!) and both of these items were given to my dad by friends of his. He did some modifications (such as building the boxes and perches) and hauled it down to me, 200 miles away! I love my family

So it looks a little tacky. I have grand plans for improvments, maybe a new coop some day.

The great thing about chickens is.......they don't care if its tacky. They only care about function. I had a pen held together by zip ties for 6 months.......just finally removed the zip ties and replaced with j-clips. Looks 100 times better. However it works exactly the same as before. Chickens liked it either way.

Okie girl sorry about your chickies! I love your coop, run, and garden.

If this thread is still going on Friday I will take and add my pictures.I have a metal shed.Rubber black mats on the roof.Cinder block to keep the door secure.Plexi glass and red duct tape for the holes I cut in the walls aka windows. It is tacky, but my girls survived a year in it.The run is plastic green fencing,t- posts, and bird netting.Oh and some chicken wire and reed fencing tossed in.

I'll just copy and paste my original thread from yesterday.

A week ago Sunday, my dog killed 8 of my 11 chickens. the three that survived are a BO, a Gold laced Wynd. and something I still haven't figured out. The GLW was very injured after that attack, but was walking fine. Didn't limp or anything. About three days after the attack, she started laying down more and more to where now she doesn't walk at all. She eats fine, drinks and when I put her outside, she picks at bugs walking by and eats grass and weeds. She seems perfectly happy. Her poop looks just like the others. She just won't get up. After that attack I put the red light back in the coop (they are 8 weeks old) just to make sure they were warm enough since there weren't lots of chickies to keep warm. She'll kinda roll, scoot, flop over to the feed and the light and do the same when she's done.
We spent all last week-end replacing the chicken run to make it as predator proof as possible.

How long can she just sit there? When I pick her up she doesn't squawk or anything like she's hurting. She'll preen herself and fluff in the dirt.

Is it possible to have a disabled chicken be happy? The only problem I see is the BO (which I'm beginning to think is a roo) He walks right on top of the GLW. will walk right on her head.
when do you know it's time for sure to cull?

Ive noticed my chickens walk over each other and on top of others heads and all of mine can walk.

OK...I'll play. Our coop/run was built using all recycled and reused materials. We did buy chicken wire...but even the hinges and staples were reclaimed.

Our nest boxes...

Here is my trampoline frame (free from freecycle) run with hodge podge fencing (all but the little square kind free), and a coop from pallets (free). Had to buy zip ties...so about $3.

I just took it all apart as they were out of grass. It rained here for days.... So here is what I put together for them now (all free and recycled) and have a couple more I need to make (going to use a soccer goal frame)....just need to buy more zip ties.

I do have 2 trampoline frames and a good idea for 2 runs, just need the xtra $ to buy more hardware cloth and chicken wire!

Awesome! The best part about this is that you dare to go where no man has gone before - off the back of the house!!!
