In my genetics book, scientists purposely (somehow gently) shook eggs during incubation and before and ender up with a noticeable percentage (I think it was like 7 percent) of surviving embryos that showed the trait when they didn't have the genetics

Did the eggs come from a breeder in Taranaki??

Hey Chookwagn No not from Taranaki. Mine came from a very reputable breeder and all the hatched babies are doing spectacularly well, including the rumpless one. In fact this particular baby is actually the best of them all! Go Figure LOL.

You should breed him and see if it passes on. People may actually like a rumpless leghorn, it would be interesting.

Personally I love rumpless birds. Wish I could get some of that tuftless rumpless breed.

Not a fan of that breed because of those darn tufts. But that's the breed standard, so they have to.

They're a lethal gene and I just find them pointless. Plus they make it so much harder to hatch shipped eggs since there's already a lower chance with shipped eggs, PLUS odds of lethality for at least some of the surfing embryos.

If they weren't lethal, I might be attracted to them
