Take marbles out of waterer

My chicks are 12 days old, and i had marbles in the water so they wouldn't drown. Now the chicks are getting big, and the water is full of bedding they have kicked up. Can i take the marbles out now? has the danger of drowning passed?

I think it would be OK Maybe take a flat rock or something to slightly elevate the waterer to help it stay cleaner. The chicks should be big enough they wont fall in and drown.

Raise up the waterer. We used a square of 2x6 wood. Worked fine. As for the marbles, I remember taking them out thinking they were old enough and found that they didn't know what to do without them. They were using the marbles to locate the water line, if that makes sense. So I started slowly removing them til there weren't any left.
