We are butchering our first meaties today as they are over two pounds now. We're just going to do two for Sunday dinner to see how much meat they have on them at this point. Wish me luck! We've never done birds this small before so it's an experiment from our end but we've butchered before so aren't nervous about the process. Just looking forward to that first taste and sharing with the kids.
We took them off feed last night so they wouldn't have a full crop this morning when we processed them. Is that something other people do too? Just thought I'd read somewhere to take them off feed so their crops weren't full and they wouldn't be full of poo either. Guess we'll see how it worked.
