I wash my hands 100% of the time, even though I'm usually wearing gloves as well. I wash after handling eggs or anything in their enclosure, or anything that has to do with them (i.e. food containers in garage).

Granted I'm a bit of a germaphobe and wash my hands frequently through the day, so this isn't a stretch for me.

I wash my hands when I come in from the coop, no matter what I've done out there. But I don't worry too much about things while I'm out with the flock. I will sit and have coffee with the girls (or a glass of wine :)), check my phone, etc. And I don't worry too much about cross contamination.
I too will sit and chillax with the girls. Drink coffee or just hang with them for a bit. IPad , phone or read

Do you wash your hands every time after handling your chickens?
YES! I contracted Campylobacter virus from handling birds. Non-lethal, but VERY uncomfortable. Washing hands frequently is easy, especially when the alternative is three solid weeks on a VERY short leash to the bathroom!

Yes. I also wash my hands when I get home from the barn after brushing/riding the horses. I wash them after brushing the dog or giving her a treat. I work in healthcare so I wash and sanitize my hands dozens of times per day.

I have a little voice in my head that constantly asks "Would you be comfortable licking your hand right now?". if the answer is no than I wash my hands.
