Hi, i have 2 broody Silkies at the moment and 13 hens altogether, i have been taking the eggs from under the broody hens daily as they are not fertile and using them to eat.
Will this effect the hens at all and is it ok to take the eggs off them?
Thanks

It will rather break them eventually or they will carry on sitting waiting for chicks which will make them unwell.

Do the broodies have any eggs under them left to hatch? You can mark the eggs you want them to hatch and remove unmarked eggs daily. Broodies lose a lot of weight while sitting on eggs, if you let them sit there too long, it can be damaging to their health. Silkies are extremely broody birds and not likely to give up on their own.
