This is so interesting.

9 times out of ten if a quail can't make it out of the egg on its own it's deformed/something is wrong with it and you'll end up having to kill it so it doesn't suffer.

Second...I would NOT help that chick out. Leave it be.

Because it may have birth defects? I had a couple that were so large they couldn't turn, they were Jumbos though. I popped the top off and they were fully absorbed just stuck. 3 I helped out did have birth defects, I did have to cull them.....

First...take the hatched ones out already.
24 hours is too long to leave them in.

Get them out and while doing so candle this egg. See if you can see in the air cell side if he is moving.


I open my incubator a thousand times during hatching. I have perfect hatches all the time. This egg isn't going to change by you opening the bator is my point.


Do you have a warm (not too hot) brooder ready with smashed up tiny feed in it?

Brooder has been up and ready for a few days. We have one zipping as we speak. Soon as it's done we are gonna pop the top and grab l the ones except for the last few that have hatched

Edit: can't type, and think I'm going to force myself to stick to no assist...which is tough

@Skipper7410 Get another humidity gauge and salt test it before you set eggs again.

I'd recommend lowering your humidity too. Get it down to about 35%.

We were definitely on a no assist mind set. Just keep changing. It's tough to see them struggle but agree that it's probably for a reason

Yea these fresh hatches are driving it up. Popping the top hopefully helps too. Will lower it. This gauge has been salt tested a little while back but will definitely check again

Having it that high at hatch isn't that big of an issue...having it at 45 throughout may be an issue. Let's see what happens to the rest of the eggs first.
