Having it that high at hatch isn't that big of an issue...having it at 45 throughout may be an issue. Let's see what happens to the rest of the eggs first.

It's hasn't been long enough...the dummy still may hatch on its own.

Definitely will! Everytime I get ready to open another egg starts zipping lol. It's pandemonium in there with chicks running everywhere haha

Quick update as we roll through day 18:

I have 19 little fluffballs ripping around the brooder doing their thing. The one from the post is out of his shell, but looks under developed and when he got out he lost a decent amount of yolk. I wonder if he pipped too early? Gonna let nature take its course with him...although his energy levels have definitely picked up.
There are 8 eggs left to still incubate and as of now 3 are chirping and one is starting its external pip so we shall see what happens there over the next day or two. We did have one this morning die I'm the egg after zipping, but such is life.

All in all I'm pretty happy with the outcome. 32 eggs were shipped from Florida to Utah, and on top of that USPS delayed them at their facility for like 4 plus days, and the mailman literally chucked the package on my porch (thankfully shipper had some seriously awesome packaging).

Out of the 32 about 7 days in or so, 2 were discarded for being infertile and 1 was discarded a day or so later for blood ring (on cracking open it had no real visible development, just the blood from the death).
This left us with 29 eggs to incubate (1 had small crack and 1 detached its aircell when my kid and I almost dropped it candling it - happy to say both hatched beautifully and are part of the 19).

So to be sitting at 19 as of now I'm pretty happy. Hopefully though we get some more out of these last few eggs!

Glad to here things are going well for you and your hatch. I'm sure that your child is loving seeing all them hatch and running around now such a great experience for youngsters, and adults as far as that goes.

They have been loving it! We normally only raise turkeys, but they really wanted to see what incubating an egg is like instead of broody and with no turkey eggs till spring, we decided to just give it a go on some quail...dusted off the ol bator and let it rip haha. They've been doing most if not all the work under my and my wife's supervision and its been really cool to watch. They've learned tons about how eggs work and things like that too. It's been great for the whole fam!

Ya I have wanted to do a set up for quail and or pheasants but have my hands full with raising and breeding all my turkeys. Maybe someday. Glad to here its been a great experience for you and your whole family. Good luck with all your new additions to the family.

Have had golden and zebra pheasants before a long time ago, but its pretty much just turkeys and now these little guys haha! Appreciate all the supprt!

Ya love my turkeys here also I have raised ducks, geese , chickens in the past But enjoy my turkeys much more. Have been breeding many different varieties for awhile now and always crossing to add new varieties each year.
