Talking Chicks!

Quote:
3 eggs for day for 10 chicks is probably too much, but if they thrive on it, hey 80 years ago there was no chicken starter and chicken were raised for centuries and millenias.

I give mine eggs mashed with oatmeal from day 1 as a supplement and variety, since oats are very healthy food for all creatures including us.

I do not give mine bread before they are one month old, then only sparsely as a treat. Bread does not have much of nutritional value, mostly carbs.

Egg yolk is fine. They could probably have all of that they want. I don't know about the whites. If you are just feeding egg for a treat and not as a part of your feeding plan, it won't hurt them.

Why are you feeding them bread at all? Bread has almost no nutritional value and crowds out other, more nutritious food. Bread is not good for any animal, including humans. I am talking about any kind you buy at the grocery store, even if it is whole wheat and/or enriched.

If you are feeding a balanced feed, adding too much extra's can throw off the balance of the feed. Treats should be small amounts of nutritious food. As they get older, some fruit or cooked vegetables will be appreciated and will be fine for them.

Cool so they do talk and it's not just me! I can finally say something! They run to me too when I call for them. I say "Where are you my chicky chicks?" And they all run to me squawking and smiling! They do smile you know!

My very first rooster when I was a teenager used to trip my brother in the yard and then go running off into the woods laughing, 'caaaaw caaaaaw caaaaaw caaaaaw caw" I thought it was pretty funny, my brother, not so much

Yes i am giving them the eggs as a treat with in mind the yolk is good for them, they never finish the whites of the egg so i pick those out. i have really only given them 3pieces of bread and never at once, i gave it to them just to give them something to do 2 of them were picking on one and i wanted to distract them. Today i am going to get them outside for first time as long as its not to windy and it warms up some, should i take them close the the run of the others to get them started in getting to know each other? the chicks are 2months old.
