tapeworm troubles

I think albendazole is probably a great wormer for chickens, but they don't live that long. If someone could show me that albendazole does not cause aplastic anemia in birds, I'd probably buy some and use it to treat my peafowl, ducks and geese. Sure would be easier than worming 3 days in a row.

I really wish I had a bunch of chickens with the different types of worms, 'cause I'd love to try some worming experiments of my own, lol.

Got a scope and stuff to do fecal floats, guess I need to learn how to use it!

Kathy, I don't keep Peafowl or waterfowl. You could ask Peter Brown, the vet who owns First State Veterinary Supply. He's a knowledgeable guy. There's also this vet in Australia:

It would be be in your best interest to rotate wormers Kathy. After giving up wazine, ivermectin and eprinex...I use valbazen and safeguard in rotation...consider valbazen in your rotation. I know for fact that safeguard will not kill tapeworms...I tried it on my chickens without success dealing with tapes. I actually first used zimectrin gold prior to valbazen with success. But the problem is the ivermectin in the z-gold, which isnt a good poultry wormer, only the praziquantel it contains for the tapes.
I have no experience with peafowl, pigeons, geese, ducks, but the valbazen works in chickens.

It's the peas, ducks and turkeys I worry about the most and I would use albendazole if someone could show me a pea, turkey or duck that had been treated with it for the last ten years, but the info in Plumb's has convinced me not to.

Thanks all. Yes, they are definitely tapes -- nearly identical to dawg's pic, also a good bet since the Safe-Guard didn't work. I'll try the valbazen on my hens and I think leave my ducks alone for now. I'm not seeing worms in the duck poop so they may be good and my understanding of tapes is that they are only passed through a host (by eating a bug) and not by pecking at poop or soil, so there's not a great likelihood of the worms being passed from bird to bird.

Will I need to dose again in 14 days or since I've already dosed with Safe-Guard will one dose of valbazen do? Also, do I really need to toss the eggs? I've already been discarding them for 20 days and I hate to think of throwing them out for another 28...
