Tapeworms coming back after a week each time

I wouldn’t spray the whole yard. Chickens peck the ground. Are you doing the 3 R’s? With your medication?
Right time...following up with the second dose on time.
Right route...meaning are you giving the proper dose if giving orally or mixing into water?
And Right medication...perhaps the wormer you’ve chosen is ineffective are you Sure you have round worms? Did you use a broad spectrum wormer? Perhaps you could bag up some poop and invest in a decal float from the vet rather than throw good money after bad and not solve your issue. Best wishes

You’re right it is summer. Lots of flies, no fleas and no horses. I’ve spread some hydrated lime in the backyard like I’ve been told but doesn’t seem to do anything. My partner works on a golf course so has access to lots of insecticide. I might ask him to spray the whole backyard if that will help.
I’ve got 7 hens and 1 rooster. They free range all day.
You might want to hang some flytraps. The kind that is like a jug that you add water to. It comes with a packet of powder that smells like a rotting corpse. Do not hang this close to your house or any open windows but man these things work great for attracting and drowning flies by the thousands. I would be really hesitant however to put any insecticides down because you could kill your chickens very easily that way or at the least, contaminate their eggs.
Tapeworms usually come from a secondary host like a flea or a slug or from chickens pecking at other animals excrement. It’s also possible for them to pick up warm eggs in the spring time if they free range in a farm like setting where the land has recently been tilled. I am going to tag @Texas Kiki , she might be able to assist here.

Yes def tapes even though the segments are orange and not white. and yep I’ve been doing the 3 R’s.
I’ll go have a look at flies trap this morning but I think it’s more the snails they love to find and eat (gross). It’s never ending and I don’t want to have to worm them every 2 weeks :(

Hi.
I’ve been dealing with tapeworm since Between August and October last year.
I treated with Avitrol plus and Equimax however the tape segments keep coming back in my chooks poo about a week after I wo them. Each freaking time !
Any advice on how to get rid of them forever and not just a week ?
Should I treat them every week/2 weeks or hold and do it every month?
I don’t want to keep wasting eggs because of the withdrawal !
Thanks
Are you using enough Equimax for long enough?

What dose are you giving?

This dose on the photo below. I gave it once then gave a second dose 14 days later. It’s always about 1 week and a few days later that the segments appear again.

That is the dose for the Equimax sold in the US. I think I remember now that the Equimax in AU is a different concentration. Can you post a picture of the product you used?

AU Equimax is 46.2 mg/ml

1 / 2.2 x 10 / 46.2 = ~0.1 ml per pound

If you use the Equimax in sold in AU, the dose for a five pound hen is 0.5 ml, not 0.16 ml.
