Taste of Duck Eggs

Im glad I found this thread though it seems everyone has their own personal opinions on how to eat or not eat duck eggs lol. My Rouen started laying this week and I have collected 5 eggs so far. It might sound silly but I am afraid to try them lol. I love my chickens eggs and LOVE my turkeys eggs even more. Im concerned the duck egg will have an off flavor. Im sure it sounds very silly of me. I need to try them soon though so I can tell others what I think of them. I have a neighbor that has been asking for duck eggs for awhile now and I would like to give them some soon.

They taste the same to me as chicken eggs. Try mixing some together and making scrambled eggs. Than try them solo.
I mix my duck and chickens eggs together when making an omelet or scrambled when baking I just use them by themselves. My dh doesn't like the taste of duck eggs. [not something he grew up eating]

I love my ducks eggs, they taste the same as a chicken egg to me, but the yolks are so much bigger, and the eggs all together are bigger. I do wish I knew someone I could give some too, It seems that I stay with a steady number of 15, and I'm tired of making so many sweets with them. Everyone in my family that lives close doesn't want any, maybe I'll have to ask the neighbors.

But they're great scrambled, fried, baked with, and I've made mayonnaise with the yolks several times now. The dogs love them, too. I'm sure this has been mentioned, but you have to make sure to cook them at a lower temperature when frying or scrambling or they get rubbery.

My aunt claims they're disgusting, when they were kids they had a mallard who laid an egg on their welcome mat everyday, my Nana would bake brownies and cakes with them and apparently they were still gross even though you know she couldn't really taste them in the brownies. She asked if they made me want to throw up when we told her we scrambled the first egg we got. Um... nooo.

We have one duck that has been laying over the last year. We began to cherish duck eggs and ordered more ducks this spring. Outer last duck took about 6 months before laying, but it was also january and freezing. Super consistent layer until she molted this spring. She began laying again and has been consistent in her 5-6 eggs a week. Then 5 months aster the hatch date literally on the nose we noticed some of out new girls are laying. We believe them to be from the 3 welsch harlequins, since typically the cayuga's lay a blackish coating on their first eggs. Even when our year old duck got out of her molt her egg had this blackish coating. We are estatic with our soon to be 7 laying ducklets! They are the best for waffles, pancakes and baking! I view duck eggs like butter in comparison to chickem eggs! Does anyone know ofew any ducks that lay any exotic colored eggs?
I tried eating the duck eggs and found that I was getting stomach pains and felt tired.

Me and some of my family have gotten sick from our ducks eggs

makes me upset!! Not sure what to do. Trying to change her feed. It's upsetting Some people say that some people just can't handle them.... True?!

I love duck eggs for all things baking. All eggs have the *potential* to make one ill -not that they will, but it is possible. Proper sanitation, handling, cooking, and very importantly, hand washing!!

I am so excited for my girls to start laying! I have three Welsh Harlequin hens and a Mallard hen. I'll try to keep you guys updated on their taste and such.
