In our small local paper this morning there's a story about a picture of a local 15-year-old girl having sex at a party. It was texted to almost everyone in the local school. Seems the kids are texting pictures of themselves in the nude to any boy or girl they're interested in going with. Then those pictures are texted to any number of other kids in the school. Some are now on the internet.

Yep, politics and weak-need "administrators" who write policy based on ANY compaint to avoid "confrontation" of any kind has damaged almost all of the public school systems.

Not for nothing, but on the news here was a great story about a pair of husband and wife principals, one worked one school, one worked the other as principals. The school board decided to can them. The parents freaked and protested the decision. They're great at their jobs and the parents refused to lose them . The news was happy to report last night or the night before that the protesting worked and they are goin to stay put. Pink slips got handed back to the school board and the principals are staying there. It made me feel good that the parent sould go to bat for our childens education, teachers and school leaders. I am not sure how it ties in, i guess i am rambling but i thought i would throw it in there.

Anne's school had a great principal that the new superintendent tried to fire too so he could build up his power base. Anne, other teachers, and lots of parents wrote letters to newspapers, marched, etc., and the "good-old-boys" school board and new supt. backed off. They wanted to replace the excellent principal with a yes-man "public relations" principal whose main job would be to make the superintendent look good at any cost. They finally got rid of the superintendent.

If only we had more parental support, volunteers at school, in the classrooms, in discipline, it would make a big difference.

The disrespect is a real problem in my class this year. I had a student yesterday tell me he did not give a crap. 4th grader!
Don't get me wrong I love teaching and the students. But some days are better than others.
