Had to deal with a bit of dependency hell while running updates. The cause was a program that was only needed by a music player that I forgot I had tested out. Since I don't use that player anyways I just uninstalled it and that fixed it

I found another browser for 10.11 and newer. SeaMonkey (which I used extensively a long time ago) works fine too.

It seems like some addons don't really play well with it though. Seamonkey has always been in a weird spot with addons. Chromium-legacy or Pale Moon are better.

Maybe check out zen browser? It's a Firefox based browser with tabs on the side. Imma try it out after I finish running updates

I'll have to see about that at some point. Doubt it supports anything this old though. 10.11 is nearly 10 years old.

Oh, and a friend of mine wants me to help him install Linux on an old desktop of his. I think imma go with Linux mint cinnamon for him as it's simple and stable

That's the best option. Guaranteed to work.

Only issue will be nvidia drivers if the PC has nvidia in it, I had to add a line somewhere in a file to get sleep mode to work.

Sigh. This turd tablet is stuck installing a update, and I need it to be done by the end of the day. It's such a small update, yet such a long wait.

Unfortunately I don't know anything about the desktop so I'll have to ask him later, hopefully it doesn't have nvidia but I do think nvidia has been more cooperative with Linux devs nowadays (or so I've heard) so hopefully support has improved

Linux mint xfce was my first distro and it was rock solid, never gave me any trouble at all. It just worked

Arch (well, ATM I'm running garuda rather than vanilla arch but I think if I get a new laptop or reinstall the is again for whatever reason I'll go back to vanila) occasionally gives me minor issues but thankfully it's been nowhere near as bad as what I heard previously. KDE can be kinda finiky at times but it's mostly stable. I do still want to go back to enlightenment even though last I used it it was a little unstable. I just how beautiful yet light on resources it is and I haven't found anything I like nearly as much. KDE is fine, but with the death of latte dock it isn't as good as it used to be and it is rather heavy
