Tell me about Greylag Geese...

From the pictures i have seen online, the Greylags have longer, thinner legs and more of a Canada Goose body type, (tall & slender). Their bills seem to be smaller and a bit longer than most domestic geese and i think there's a difference in the color of the 'bead' on the bill too.

I will definitely get pics as soon as i can get out to see them. he was in no hurry to rehome them and was even willing to wait until some of my Chinese babies were older so we could trade because that's what he wanted to replace these guys at the retirement home.

"The plumage of the Greylag Goose is greyish-brown, with a darker head and paler belly with variable black spots. Its plumage is patterned by the pale fringes of its feathers. It has a white line bordering its upper flanks. Its coverts are lightly coloured, contrasting with its darker flight feathers. Juveniles differ mostly in their lack of a black-speckled belly"

Toulouse "In colour they should be rather dark grey on the head, neck, back and wings; rather lighter on the breast, gradually becoming lighter towards the belly, where it ends in pure good white."

So to me the give away would be the black spots on the belly and the white line bordering its upper flanks.
