Well, don't think birth day would make me conservative or liberal, but I'm pretty much a coffee drinking Seattlite who loves the morning grande, non fat, split, hazelnut/caramel latte with no foam with whip to start the day before messing around with embryonic stem cells. Non human of course.

Now for everyone else on this thread, let's just calm down, tell us about yourself, and stop arguing over religion before we have to make it another taboo subject to be discussed. Period.

Favorite Books: sadly I have not read anything but a textbook for many years.

About Me: I am a student and stay at home mama, trying to make it with my clothing and accessories line, but don't have time to sew. I love the outdoors, I'm a little bit girly but mostly not. I love my "farm" in town, and have tons of fun sharing the joys of having critters in my life, with my daughter. I am happily married to a former skater with a huge heart.

Name: Lora

Birthday: January 19**mumblemumble, noneofyerbizness mumble**

Hometown: Lancaster, PA

Current Residence: The Boroughs, Metrowest MA

Relationship Status: Married

Political Views: Registered Green Party. Mass. always gives their electoral votes to Democrats, so I try to vote 3rd Party to get the popular vote high enough that the debates will be more interesting.

Religious Views: Complicated. Basically polytheistic. I think that people make their own gods, but that doesn't make them any less real, and that belief is a force that helps create reality. So, people are responsible for their gods, not t'other way round.

Interests: Cooking, gardening, reading, building stuff

Favorite Music: Don't have favorites really. Tori Amos I suppose, although at the moment I'm listening to Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Jeff Buckley and Diamanda Galas.

Favorite TV Shows: I don't watch TV. Seriously, I don't. I watched the political debates. This puts me at a terrible disadvantage trying to understand pop culture. I like some Japanime series, especially the English translation of Ghost Stories.

Favorite Movies: The Wicker Man, the 1973 version. The re-make was horrible, I was cheering for Nicholas Cage to die already, but the original was awesome. Also, Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Favorite Books: Sexing the Cherry by Jeannette Winterson, American Gods by Neil Gaiman, just about anything by Terry Pratchett, The Handmaid's Tale and Oryx & Crake by Margaret Atwood, Rant by Chuck Palahniuk, The Mismeasure of Man and Wonderful Life: The Burgess Shale and the Nature of History by Stephen Jay Gould, The Coming Plague by Laurie Garrett, The Second Sex by Simone de Beauvoir...

About Me: I dunno. Stuff. I work full-time in drug discovery research. Before that I did biotech development, and before that I did field microbiology. I like drug discovery best, but it's a very focused field. Sometimes I miss all the different problems I had to solve doing fieldwork. OTOH, I don't miss having the discovery people's stupidity dropped in my lap, so I guess it evens out. DH is a tattoo artist, which most of my colleagues find amusing. I couldn't stand being married to someone as annoying and fussy as me!

Religious Views: Brought up catholic, now non-religious, but spiritual and close to nature i.e instead of church, I go into the woods.

Interests: Hiking, gardening, small house repairs, decorating, refinishing furniture, stained glass projects, CHOOKS, reading and listening to music.

Fav Music: Not in any special order: Led Zepelin, Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Big Head Todd & the Monsters, Patsy Cline, Hank Williams, Sr, Beatles, Kinks, Lenny Kravitz, Renaissance, The Doors, Bob Dylan, Neil Young etc, Men at Work, Tears for Fears, The Smiths, Depeche mode, Canned Heat, Radiohead, Gordon Lightfoot, Morcheeba, Peter Gabriel, Fleetwood Mac, Blues Traveler, Vivaldi, Mozart, Moody Blues, Iggy Pop, John Fogarty, Kate Bush, Siouxie & the Banshees, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bob Marley, BB King, Taj Mahal, Simon & Garfunkel, The Mission, The Cure, Loreena McKennitt, Cake, Leonard Cohen, Santana, Heart, Morphine, Blondie, Vicki Richards, Van Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, Supertramp, Johnny Cash, and lately checking out the old delta blues stuff and Robert Johnson. I'm sure I missed quite a few of them, but that's for another time.

Fav T.V.: Don't watch it much, I'm usually on here and DH is next to me watching something on the tube that I only catch here & there. Mostly Turner Classics or History channel. I have no clue on the new sit-coms today.

Fav Movies: I go from Donny Darko to The Last of The Mohicans, but I love oldies like Charlie Chaplin, Laurel & Hardy and others from that era, & of course Betty Davis, I could go on, but the music thing makes me think I better not.

Fav Books: Too many to name, a lot of non-fiction/paranormal & mystical stuff....and others!

About Me: I'm a twin, I'm shy mostly. I'm also a direct descendant of Isaac Newton (I inherited his hair, not the smart gravity stuff) I would love to go on an archaeological dig somewhere along the eastern coast.

Name: Alexis

Birthday: Sept 20th

Hometown: East Windsor, NJ

Current Residence: Elverson, PA

Relationship Status: Married

Political Views: Independent

Religious Views: non-practicing Roman Catholic

Interests: rock climbing, sabre fencing, western martial arts, seeing how many pets I can cram into my house before my husband throws me out!

Favorite Music: Too varied to list

Favorite TV Shows: Don't have TV

Favorite Movies: Umm... Not really a movie fan.

Favorite Books: Sandman - well pretty much anything by Neil Gaiman. "His Dark Materials" by Pullman, "The Deluge" by Sienkiewicz.

About Me: Full time working Mom of two small girls.

I have my Masters degree in computer science. My DH has his PhD in Physical Chemistry and works as an immunologist doing cancer research. What that means is that he practically lives at the lab and I single parent during the week. So all that stuff in the "interests" section, yeah, that was all before kids... Some day I'll be able to get back into it, but now my focus is on them.

I hesitate to put this out here, but it IS one of the biggest things that defines my life - I think about it every single day. My 5 year old has RA. We have it under control right now, but living through this has changed me in ways I wish I could undo. I am a VERY different person now, than I was 2 years ago.

We own chickens, cats, hermit crabs, and an aging hamster.

And I just realized I didn't lock the chickens up yet! Scuze me, gotta run!
