Tell us the earliest a hen has layed an egg for you!

my youngest 'layer' started at around 18 weeks, went broody at just over 20 weeks and has just hatched out 11 little cuties (shes nearly 22 weeks old now, so a young mum lol!)

Well, if you want big, early eggs, don't go for Brahmas.

Mine only started to lay at about 24 weeks and the eggs are pretty small considering the size of the bird. BUT they do live for about 10 years , lay for most of those, and are beautiful placid birds.

I had two start last week at 16 weeks. One has laid 4 since last Tuesday and another laid 2 since then. I'm not positive, but I think it's two Comets that are the ones laying. I think I have a BR that about ready to go. The eggs are still pretty small yet.

I also put food in the coop and out in the run... can you over feed a chicken?
