TEMP RAISING UP IN BATOR!!!

"Correct temp" varies depending on type of incubator; is it a still air or does it have a fan? If it is a still air, then it is also important to know where you placed the thermometer... if you have thermometer down by the bottom of the eggs, then the temp at tops of eggs will be much hotter, since heat rises, and may well be over 103 degrees, which would be too hot.

I was told that if in doubt, that I was better off erring on the side of "cooler temps", as opposed to "hotter temps"

If you look at the top of this page you will see "Learning Center", click on that, then go to the "How To" section, there is a TON of really good info on "how to hatch eggs", that will help you! (Including info on temps)!!

Good luck

Ok my thermometer is a springfield one and if I placed it on top of the eggs it would cracked them so I can't do that.Mine is a Still-Air Little Giants Incubator and I just candled them and they were momving so they are ALIVE! just a few days more like midnight already passed its already the 16th day YAYYYYYYYYY! im so excited since its my first hatch. Last time none hatched because of the temp. and humidity It was a HOMEADE incubator so thats the reason why they died. Hope this time at least 1 hatches! people send me hatching vibes

Still airs are usually run a bit hotter at 102 and forced airs at 99-100. However hot kills much faster than cold. The chicks handle it a bit better when they are getting closer to hatching but while incubating temps of 105-106 will kill in hours while temps down to 96 for days will mostly just delay hatch. Your hatch rate might be slightly lower with really cool temps for an extended period of time. For that reason I keep the thermometer in the middle of my still air at about 101 and vent the incubator (pull a vent plug or open it a little) if it hits 103. If it goes back up then I turn the incubator down a little. The less you mess with that temp control after you put eggs in there the better. I have a 2nd digital thermometer on the side of my bator where it is coolest and I keep that at a minimum of 96F.
