Hard call. Could one be measuring the air above the eggs? I have a laser temperature gun that I use. It can scan the temps on top of each egg or at any part of the incubator.

Hmmm I’m not sure what to do. I don’t have one of those right now so I kinda have to figure it out. One of them is built in and one of them I attached a picture to show you where the sensors are at

It would give you some peace of mind to have a laser temp gun. They're useful for a lot of things. I'm constantly using mine everywhere on my property for temp reads.

That said, the one in the photo would be the one to take seriously if it is well calibrated. The LIttle Giant may not be calibrated and I've read thermometers on them and other similar table top models may not be accurate from the factory.

Edited to add: I just read that Little Giant measures air at top of incubator so both of those thermometers could technically be correct.

Ok that makes sense. I’ll go with the one that’s not built in.

Hopefully some experts will chime in, but isn't a too high temperature worse than a too low temperature? I.e either go by the highest one (and possibly have a too low temperature) or go with the lowest one and adjust it slightly lower? Anyone?

Awakening has already given some good info although I don't trust the accuracy of laser guns- most meters are not accurate, even the accurate ones still all state that they can deviate by +-2 degree F. +-2F = a possible deviance of 4 degrees F in total.
On less reliable meters it will be more than 4F.

For arguments sake lets say the temp is 99F, one meter might be showing 96F, another might show 102F.

I also believe the LG sensor is at the top of the incubator so will always show a little high.

Is it a still air or forced air? Still air should be at 102F at the top of the eggs (not the top of the incubator which will be warmer)

Personally I would say both those readings are inaccurate so it is very hard to say what your real temp is.

It could be +2 degrees F or -2F of the reading you are seeing.

Another good indicator that they are not showing an accurate reading is that they have widely differing humidity readings.

If you want to be more sure you will have to get another thermometer to compare those readings with.

I personally like my govee thermometer available on amazon because it is very accurate, can be calibrated and only has a deviance of +-1F.

But if you find a decent laser temp gun and want that by all means, just check the reviews to see if others have been happy with their purchase (especially check the 1 star reviews, how many it has compared to the positive reviews and make a judgement if it will be any good)

The price for temp laser guns can vary from $20 to $100 or more and I wouldn't trust the cheaper ones
