Temporary run roofing?

We live in a rural place and just building the run around the coop. It’s taken a week and we need to move our chickens into the new place. The coop is secure and run has all its walls but no roof.

I was planning to pin a tarp over, but any thoughts for extra security until we can get the roof put on on Tuesday?

I think a tarp is a good idea. Stretch it really tight until you can add actual roofing. Or, if the weather isn't bad, you could always throw some netting over the top of you have some.

Thank you! I’m mostly worried about something ripping the tarp to get in, but since the coop is secure it’s really just daytime. And we’ll be around the house more or less.

I bet that will be fine. As long as they're locked in the coop at night, I wouldn't be to concerned about it. Its only temporary, so for a few days it will be just fine.

If you want Free, you can get some Pallets, take them apart and nail the planks on the roof. Solid and Secure. You may want to double up some of the roof joists just to be able to nail the short planks better. Nail them so you have an over hang all around- will help with all the rain you get.
Or those plastic corrugated roof panels, just make sure to get the correct screws with rubber grommets and drill the holes before hand so it doesn't crack ;)
A tarp will not be secure unless you have that wire over the top as well.
