Temptation in the form of a cow?

AI is very easy to do..you could even take some classes and learn to do it yourself..so really no need for a bull, and the seman isnt that bad to buy..and you can then buy from the best lines..without the pain of haveing a bull around..even when I had the dairy,60 head,I didnt run a bull,we AI'd all the cows..

I havent seen nothing about the Dexter cattle, but I will sure look into that before I buy any. They are sooooo cute and would be excellent for people who have small acreage. I will do more research. Thanx!

Yep, chained to twice a day, EVERYDAY, forever. Unless you decide to not breed one year and let her go dry, then you might get a vacation. Been there, done that, didn't bother with the T-shirt.

On the other hand, Jerseys give the beeestest milk with a high cream content! Mmmmm. And such a sweet temperament. And those soft doe eyes will break your heart. I love Jerseys. And if you get more milk than you can use you can buy one or two beef calves. Let her raise them then put one in your freezer and sell the other.

I don't think so... My Dexter is very sweet & easy to deal with. She's in pasture with horses. We had a 'bad' Dexter that we sold, she was just not as people friendly but was not at all dangerous. The Dexters I have been around have all been very gentle compared to other breeds.

Now milking a corriente - THAT could get interesting.
