Temptation in the form of a cow?

Sounds like you are ready.

One thing, the calf doesn't need one of those calf jackets. Just keep it in a dry draft free place with plenty of bedding and it will be fine.

On your trip to the feed store don't forget to add cow grain!

I recently brought home 3 Dexters, my first experience with cattle, and they've been incredibly sweet! I did a lost of research before settling on this breed and I chose them mostly because I kept reading about how gentle they are. So far, at least, they've lived up to that description. They're extremely curious and like to be around us, although skittish at times, but easily patted and scratched at feeding. I hope you decide to get that cow and report back about how it's going!

I will! We are just so excited but also a little terrified. Because I'm slightly obsessed - here's a youtube video of our curious little steer, Seamus, and his little sidekick, Rooney (Matilda is in the background). Sorry for the low quality - my husband only had his cell phone to catch some video.
