Thanks!

This is SUPER long! But it's worth reading, and it'll be helpful to the plot of the story!

“Her child was delivered last night. He’s safe and sound.” She assured me.

“And where is he going?” I asked.

“He will be going to an orphanage. I can’t put that kind of responsibility on a sixteen year old…” She sighed.

“No. I’m taking him!” I protested.

After minutes of arguing, the nurse finally gave in. She told me Child Services would be checking in every month to make sure he was okay. Later she walked Pastor John and I to another room. The nurse stood next to me, and pointed out a small baby with a blue hat on.

“That’s him.” She smiled.

“When can I have him?” I asked.

“When he wakes up from his nap, you can take him home. Your mother has keys, I’m guessing to your home? You can take those also.” She stated.

I nodded, and walked out. Pastor John followed.

“Are you okay?!” He asked.

“I can’t handle this right now…” I sighed. “Take care of him, I’ll be back in a few hours.” I said, calling a taxi over. I told the taxi driver the address, and we drove off.

I soon arrive to a large building, and stepped out of the taxi. I walked up, and opened the door.

“Cally? Are you okay?!” Many people asked me as I passed by, but I ignored them, and went straight to my class.

“Mr. Phillips..” I sighed, interrupting class.

“Yes?” He asked.

“I… Need to drop out.” I said quietly. I looked shyly at my classmates staring at me.

Mr. Phillips nodded. “I understand. I heard what happened. Let me know if I can help.” He said, turning back to the class.

I slowly walked out, as Mr. Phillips returned to teaching. I sighed, and fell back against the wall right outside his classroom. I never wanted to drop out. I wanted to finish my life, a well educated young woman in the army. But since it didn’t look that that was going to happen, I had to make the best of it.
I stood right up, and walked back to the taxi. I was going to raise this child, and I was going to raise him right.

I finally got back to the hospital where I had left Pastor John, and walked inside. The nurse was holding the baby. He was so small, yet he looked so brave.
I reached my hand out, and grabbed his.

“Everything’s gonna be okay…” I smiled.
The nurse handed him to me, and I cradled him in my arms. He giggled as he swayed, and slowly fell asleep. I looked back at the nurse.

“Can I take him home now?” I asked her.

“Sure. Remember that Child Services is going to be checking in often.” She repeated.

“I know.” I snapped, walking out of the hospital.

I saw Pastor John as I was walking out.

“You can go if you’d like. I’m taking him home.” I said, looking at the baby. I was still thinking of names.

“Okay! If you need anything, just call!” He said, getting into his truck.

“Actually, could we have a ride?” I asked, looking back at him.

“Sure!” He replied, motioning to the passenger door. “Just be careful with him.”

I nodded, and hopped in. I held the baby tightly as we drove off.
Soon we arrived home. It looked the same, but it felt weird not having mom and dad there.

I reached into my pocket, and took out mom’s keys. The baby giggled as he was jostled around. I finally got the key in, and entered the house. I walked into our den, and made my way into the hall way. A few more steps and I was in the baby room. We had been planning the room for months. It was painted blue, with giraffe cut outs all over the walls. He had a matching crib placed in the corner. I walked over, and placed him inside. He laughed, and kicked his small legs in the air. I watched him until he fell asleep, and then walked back to the den to watch television. After flipping through fifty channels, I decided nothing was on. I laid my head on a pillow, and stretched out on the couch. Shortly after I had dozed off, I heard my phone ringtone. I sadly got up to a screaming baby, and picked up my phone as I went to check on him.

“Hello?” I asked, picking up the baby.

“Cally?” A familier voice asked.

“Jenna? How are you?” I replied, happy to hear one of my friends.

“I’m doing okay. I heard you dropped out?” She said, sounding sad.

“Yeah, I have a baby to raise now, so-“ I started.

“You had a baby?! What, are you married now, too?!” She asked, cutting me off.

“No, it’s nothing like that. It’s my baby brother.” I explained, cuddling him.

“Oh.” Jenna said simply, almost as if she wished he was mine. “So, mind if me, and we few friends come over?” She asked, lightening up her voice again.

“Umm, okay. Sure, I guess…” I said, setting the baby back in his crib.

“Great. We’ll be there in a few!” She said, hanging up the phone.

I really wasn’t ready to have people over. I was barely over losing my family. I waited until the baby fell asleep again, then walked out to wait by the door. Once I got into the den, I heard the doorbell.

“Hey, Jenna!” I said, opening the door.

“Hey, Cally!” She said walking in with her closest sixty-two friends.

I stared at them for a while until it all processed. Jenna wanted to have a party.

“Jenna, what is this?!” I demanded.

“It’s a party.” She said simply, treating me like a two year old.

“Jenna, I have a baby to take care of. There will be no party!” I exclaimed.

“Lighten up. I’ll get you a soda. And don’t worry ‘bout the baby. We’ll be quiet.” She whispered, leaving into the crowd of people.

I rolled my eyes, and walked to the baby room. He was still sleeping. I grabbed a key, and locked his door from the outside, so he wouldn’t be bothered.
I went back to the party, and plopped down on the couch. Jenna soon found me.

“Here. This’ll make you feel better.” She said, handing me a cup full of Pepsi.

“Pepsi? If it can erase what happened to my parents, then by all means give me the whole bottle!” I said, gulping down the soda.

Jenna winked at me once I finished the drink. “It’s not just Pepsi.” She said, running off.

“Jenna!” I screamed, running after her. “Jenna, what else is it?!” I yelled, starting to feel weird. “Jenna!” I cried out into the room of people.

It's true!

I like them a lot; This reminds me of all of her books, but not in a 'copying' way... In a good way. Like, moral values and meaning, and blah... Y'know?
