I bought six bobwhite quail at an auction. They are better than half grown and feathered out quite well. But they all look alike, surely I didn't get six hens! Wondering if they are reds. Do red males not have the white bars on the head? all of these have the rsddish/buff colored bars, there is no withe whatso ever on their bodies.

Don't sound like TN Reds to me. Mine are dark burgandy with a little white patch on the chest not the head. If you had a picture that would be great.

They Are Regular Bob Whites. As Adolescents They Will Have Brownish Red And Black Stripe, As They Grow The Males Will Change To Black And White Striped Masks. Tennessee Are Not Masked Birds.
