Tennessee

This is my first week here on BYC.I did not know there were so many chicken people around here!Stanglover2001...You live right down the road from me!I live on the Clinton/Oliver Springs line!I also used to have a stang!a bright blue 99 GT.But I DID drive it like a mad woman. It went weeeeeeeeeee, weeeeeeee, weee MOST of the the way home.I love a dilute calico! They are my favorite! Is it long or short hair?Sorry about your bird...
Emvickvey...I am about two 1/2 hours from Nash. But if I do get that way for any reason I will remember you.I dont know about shipping as I have never done it.
And thanks Tnchickenut...I did not know that.I have just got into really hatching this year. The only problem I am having is Chris wont stop collecting whatever STILL for this purpose. We seem to wind up with ...well like now...One duck, one jap.quail, and a Barred rock that are a day old together for now.I plan to move them to their own places tomorrow as more(at this point hopefully)hatch.Sometimes it is really cute though like when I had one 2 day old silkie "mothering"eight button quail! They seemed to be popping out from under her wings everywhere. She walked around with her wings held up!You should have seen her the next day when another silkie hatched and I put her with another silkie. She did not know what to make of it!
Glad to meet everyone,
Brittney

Welcome to BYC... now, how many of my chickens do you want? lol. I'm kidding! *sort of*

I'm no expert, but what I know now compaired to a couple years ago when i started out... it's amazing how much there is to chickens. Most people think they are a very simple animal to own.... not so! Very rewarding, though. Still, my cats... I just can put out food and water and they don't care about much else. Now, THAT is a easy pet.

tnchicknut- I don't think it ran really high, nothing over 102 F but it wasn't malformed just limp. It could use the other one fine, and it could move its hip bone just nothing below that (we did help it out of the egg so I think the leg was the reason it couldn't zip). But it's okay I think the lady we got them from said she'd been raising the EE's for over 4 years without introducing a new bird (if that tells you anything).

wegotchickens- I think I'll take you up on the offer, are you available Friday? I havn't ever raised d'Uccles, what are they like?

lovinhiscurlytailfeathers- HEHE MUSTANGS ARE AWESOME!!!

I'm all for the new 2011's but 30,000 is kinda steep for me right now! My cali is short hair, her name is Eva (greek for life). She's an outside cat but catches me some moles, bunnies, and chases my chickens! It's a 2001 V6 Mustang, not a GT, but still has some gitty up

it's also a manual!

ETA: curlytails- I live off Blair!

Yeah, that could do it! The first thing to go if a flock/line is overly inbred is fertility... short beaks... and thriving chicks. The SLW I got from a breeder, he admitted, were getting too inbred. I got 12 eggs, by hand delivery, and three hatched. I wasn't too mad, though... afterall... he warned me!

Edited to add:
Also, the health and diet of the parent birds will be a factor in something like that too. Did you know breeding birds should have "breeders ration"? Good luck finding it around here. You can use game bird feed or suppliment layer with "extras" like dark greens, protein, vitamins A D & E.

Friday as in tomorrow? What time? I have to work until 4:30, and would rather not take the noisy buggers with me (but could if I had to).

Here's a pic of them following 'mom' (they aren't hers, she stole some eggs):

Anytime Friday, I unfortunately can't find work so I'm home all the time. But I need to go to knoxville anyway, need to give my grandmothers movie back and visit my mom

She lives off Lovell, both my granny and mom live in the Karns area. 6pm will be fine I guess. I don't mind driving in Knoxville though, I know where everything is since I learned to drive there

I didn't know there was a downtown farmers market! But that could work too.

There is!

I had sent you a PM, but if the Farmer's Market works for you, that would be even better for me...

Gotta hit the hay. Wanna work out details in the morning? DH is bugging me about shutting down
