I would love to have a meet up close to home - I'm so excited about my new "hobby" ....DH and friends eyes just glaze over whenever I mention it. Would be nice to meet some others who "get it"

I'm not much of an organizer but would be happy to play a supporting role in anything anyone would like to put together.

Staring at my incubator tonight and really wanting to put something in it. I'm in love with my little white silkie and would love some more like her - or maybe some black ones.... or buff (love the solids). Also loving the look of the little silver, gold and buff laced varieties of the polish.

Anyone near Clarksville able to feed my growing addiction? It's been so cold I hate to have any eggs shipped.

Friday night entertainment: Noodle gets a bath :)

now that's cute overload.Poor Noodles. Sorry I can't help in the silkies I'm trying to get some started here for the kids but we are into Wild Child colors here mix um up and toss them and see what pops out of the shell. We have so many we have to fuss with for breed standards and all the Silkies are for the kids to have fun.We mostly have bbs here but one partridge so she's looking for a few friends if anyone around has some or some odd colors give me a yell.

Ah - don't get me wrong - I think the wild looking ones are darling, too! Just I've been limited to 10 or under chicks (mean, right?!) so I figure I'll stick with the ones that I love the most for now.

Maybe need to sit DH down and renegotiate.....

Morning Tennessee! I probably need more coffee before I start typing, but what the hey.

CityGirl, glad to hear exams are OVER! You really should video your chicks munching out. I have one silkie who makes a sound like a cross between a growl and a coach's whistle while she's gobbling something good. Hilarious.
Also glad kitty is doing well . . . and ready to hit the blinds again! I had cats for many years, and they CANNOT stay away from blinds. Nothing like that metallic clinking sound at 3 a.m., eh! My last guy passed away last summer, and I swear I could hear him wearing out the sofa arm with his ghostly claws the other day. Lord they are naughty!!
Now as for the commune suggestion . . . can you even imagine how many chickens this group would collect if we were all living on one farm? Oh heavenly hash . . .

trishmk, great photos! Sounds like a perfect Friday night. Noodle almost looked like he was enjoying the attention . . . especially the post-bath rest on a warm blankie!

Loved the last pic the best - POOF!
CityGirlintheCountry has some lovely clear buff silkies, and she's south of Nashville. Maybe you can coax a couple from her in spring! She's done a nice job with the color, as buffs seem to be tricky to get just right.
Now if you want some nice, colorful bantam BLUE EGG laying Ameraucanas, it looks like HBuehler is going to be overloaded soon, heh heh! She's got blue/black/splash going there.

Robo, hope it's thawing over your way. Sure wish I had room for some quail. If I can clear out one of my pens later in spring (or maybe just add a coop!) I will give a shout out to you. Are you using yours for meat or eggs (or both)?

Morning to all

woke up way too early for a Sat but work calls. So as I was sitting at the computer I kept hearing chirps..yes I have a hundred chicks or so in my basement and as those that have been brave enough to find me you know the house is small so hearing chicks should be common. It is but this one was in my living room with me..along with one bator that some will go to lockdown today and one that I hatched with earlier in the week still not emptied and washed since I've been busy and really need to get it done.2 eggs of mine never hatched but were alive when I took the chicks out...forgot about them and figured I had a ok hatch. So that chirping chick was nearly hatched from those forgot about eggs and the second one is on the escape route now..
MORE Fuzzy butts than I thought for this week

:weee:weee:weee
Last night I filled another bator-without a turner so it will hold more to hatch with Jens chicks...anyone have a spare bator mine are full
hide.gif
After my Christmas hatch I will be able to set my hatcher as well since my next hatches are huge and no bators have split hatches in them.
I have no idea what Jen means about me being overloaded soon

maybe I had better post more pics of my basement.Think soon has arrived.Going to have to get a step ladder to reach the top pens shortly.
Jen about that bathroom I know a great remodel guy
