Tennessee

Ooooh, what a gorgeous hen. I love the dark splashes....I have two splash cochins now. One who is a DARK splash and one who is almost platinum, she is so light. Such a neat contrast.

I'm keeping the splash pullets and a few blue pullets.I still have a splash roo outside needing a home so I'll let a pullet go with him for a good home.I'm hoping some pullets get as much color as Nina has..Not keeping a roo other than Sam...oh a Jen chick has pipped so more coming soon.We have a mixed chick hatched already and the big eggs began pipping like popcorn this morning

Anne I was also chasing cats in the mud last night around 11 in not too many clothes and bare foot around the swimming pool and mud

glad no one had a camera handy..Miss Kitty isn't always the best behaved. She's never really been outside or she would have slept out for such antics

Wait, wait, wait... Holly, are you hatching out splash ameraucanas over there? Is that what that bird is? Jenski is showing a GORGEOUS splash AM. I'm assuming these are bantam AMs, yes? I am obsessively trying to hatch out a splash pullet around here. I just love them! Sadly, ALL of mine have been cockerels. Sigh. I am doomed to never have a splash AM.

Are you only doing bantam AMs these days or are you running a few pens of standard size? I have a hard time remembering what all you have hatching over there.

Jen, I am totally coveting your beautiful splash girl. She's GORGEOUS!!!!

Ahh, thank you for the kind comments on my splash girl. Sadly for you "standard size" folks, she is just a little mini McNugget. Her daddy was the most gorgeous red-shouldered splash bantam!

This is the handsome fella, sans beard - - courtesy of his naughty wives.

Nina is penned with a very handsome blue Ameraucana from Little Ameraucana Mom's show-flock eggs. He is very dark and has amazing lacing.

Jada, Nina and Remy at four months

So . . . these are the parents of HBuehler's "Jen chicks" - - if you are looking for some nice laced blue bantam Ameraucanas, or cool-looking splash project birds, get in touch with Holly!

We now return to our regularly scheduled program.

To hatch out the full size it would require an egg

I really do have a BBS flock minus the S in full size...I have 2 black and a blue lady We lost our splash Roo in the cold snap but have a beautiful black from Jean...all of them are laying in the OE pen until I get some space..Have a few blue's growing up but I want some splash as well in there-we need to get together and find some
thumbsup.gif
.I have one growing but it looks roo which would be fine totally not related to anything I have now . I still have Levi and his side kick Calvin and the free loading wheaten ladies...one is laying some but that wont get a big pen dedicated to them around here.I kept some of the other colors just for EE and OE chicks
All of these cuties are bantam from Jens stock...she gave me Sam last fall and he's a very loved roo but we hatched all roos so I'm raiding Jens nest boxes and hatching nearly all splash and blue...at least one better look like Nina she's so pretty.Right now all Sam has is a Silkie so we have cheeky silkie chicks that may lay blue eggs

Once upon a time I had no interest in bantams . . . then I got a little bantam cochin named Lucy from a chicken buddy of mine. That naughty little hot dog-stealing, Ninja grape-grabbing munchkin got me totally hooked.

Her Royal Naughtiness

Holly knows of the Mysterious Powers of the Munchkin Chicken . . . Bantams are precocious, talkative, inquisitive, super friendly, and for the Ameraucanas especially, they are good little foragers and very tough.

Give in and join us, all you big bird people!

I very recently sold 22 bantams.....leaving me with my breeding flock of mottled cochins (1 roo, 5 hens), 1 extra bantam cochin rooster and 1 bantam EE hen. That's it! All my other birds are large fowl.

Hawks think bantams are delicious here.

Jenski, I will have to hunt down pix of my splash cochin girls. They are actually sold and going back to their previous owner. Still downsizing.......

Belated Happy New Year all. Pretty chickens everyone. Ours are locked in coop since it is snowing here. Most snow we have seen since moving to TN 5 years ago. Our chickens have started to really lay even with all this snow. Dog is shedding too so I hope that means an early spring. It is way too dangerous for me getting to and from the coop with snow on the ground since it is down hill from the house. Stay warm and stay safe everyone. Lets pray for less snow.

There she is

She was given to Jen to hook her and Jen re-paid the favor and passed her onto my kids which started my bantam addiction but it stops here for Lucy.Lucy isn't available..she watches spongebob while snacking on grapes and apples. Now she has moved onto Hannah and others now she's getting older
gig.gif
She's not like most bantam Cochins that are loving no matter what...Lucy evaluates the food "your" eating before deciding who will end up with it

I do have some I would love to hook you onto bantams with though
The only hawk attack here took our biggest chicken and didn't look at the bantams-that meal would have been way too small
