Tennessee

I grew up in South FL. But my last location was PA before moving here. I have lived in many of the East coast states from VT and down to FL. Dang I am getting old. LOL
We have been in Tn for 8 years now. Things are a bit more laid back here, especially if you are out of city limits. But there are some counties that are stricter like Hamblen, which is trying to oust some livestock and farms.

I do know the central south TN is swampy so be aware of that when looking. When we were out that way first time we came down in early spring you could see fields holding water. It is all over the state too as we found some low lying here in East TN too. As a matter of fact the property across the street is low lying and floods with heavy rains. You see this alot on the news here with many new developments. I would not be in a rush as property now will be high and dry as rains are less right now. Last winter we had alot of rain but not this one so far.

You are just down the road from me. I live next to Big Limestone Creek, so it foods here quite a bit. Fortunately I'm on a hill, but the pasture across from me always floods.

Thank you also-- for this useful info. We have been to TN in August the last 2 years, last year it had rained a lot in Sevierville where we were staying. Lookes at homes in Dandridge and Sevierville. I was contemplating BUILDING a new home-- but they ALL had restrictive covenants, prohibiting any chickens-- even when your back yard looks unto acres of hayfields. This makes no sense. I DID get a very useful tool from the good folks in city hall in -- I think Maryville-- it gives ALL of the CITY codes . You can reference any city in TN... it is my understanding that Chatty was the last large city to allow backyard flocks. but really rather live in the outskirts, but then have to deal again with the restrictions. cant make sense of it... thanks again

Ironically-- we are currently raising Partridge Rocks( a roo to) , and Partridge Cochins( another roo also).. they are all very nice birds, + great pets. We also have silver wyandottes-- they are a bit flighty, compared to the others.!!
