Tennessee

That depends on the breed and what your definition of rare is

I have lots of rare breeds I don't have any issues with most of them.

MFL very hard to keep chicks alive
Tolbunt Polish.... can't keep those chicks alive either.

I have
CCL... they do fine
Rhodebars  They do fine too
Eng Orpingtons do fine
ALL of my Marans do fine (Isabelles, Cuckoos....that is all that might be RARE)
Choc and Mauve Orpingtons and Wyandottes do fine.

Can't think of anything else I have or had.

That sounds like me had trouble with those your whole thing there is about what I had then sold

Anyone along I-24 from Chattanooga up to Nashville have Barnies? I have someone driving up from FL and they are looking for a couple of Cockerels.

Hi Tropper!! I am looking to get my first bunch of chicks. Do you know a reputable place to get Black Copper Marans? I was about to purchase from Mcmurray Hatchery but I waited to late and they won't have the breeds I want until late April. Any suggestions? I want RIR, Welsummer, Dominique, and Golden Lacy Wyandotte. Thanks for your info and help from fellow upper east Tennesseeian

I'm in the same boat with the Naked Necks. I want to order again but I'd really like to pick my colors. I got mostly browns and a few fibromelanistic hens last time. Need a pretty roo. I'll keep my eyes peeled for you LGodsey.

The only breeder that I know in East TN is A & B Poultry in Greeneville. He's an older gentleman and is not online, but was nice enough to give me a chick as a companion for a lone hatch when I called him. I don't know all of his breeds, but I do know that he has bantam Araucanas.

Hello! I'm new to BYC and to the urban chicken movement but am gaining knowledge fast. I live in middle TN (Nashville area) and i'm having a tough time finding a place CLOSE with no minimum chick order requirements. Only looking for 3-4 pullets as young as possible. If anybody knows any places to try, or anyone on the site lives in this area and has any for sale or anything like that, i'm fully open to hearing suggestions/tips! Please let me know. I tried my local tractor supply but there is a minimum order of 6 and they are not sexed. Problem with that is city ordinance says no roosters, and i would hate to get home and just by the off chance get 6 roosters. If it would happen to anyone, it would happen to me. :)

I am creating a Tennessee BREEDER list and if you would like to be added please PM me or list it here. I need the following info laid out JUST like I have it listed please.

USER NAME - LOCATION

Breeds you have in a list Example

Copper Marans
Barred Rocks etc....

I am listing them by region and then alphabetical by USER NAME.

Here is the link - a couple of others on the Middle TN thread can also make changes when needed.
