Huddle House in Madisonville is closed. It is in the process of being turned into a Dollar General.

Pardon me for a moment as I weep...it was my favorite restaurant on the globe.

Ok, that's better.

Because I haul ball teams and dance troupes from Chattanooga to Bristol, I have a twelve passenger van with room for $500 dollars in groceries in the back. I'm taking four large dog crates and a dozen cardboard, small-animal boxes. Hopefully this is overkill, but you never know. On top of that, I have a cousin that lives in Benton, so if worse comes to worst, I'll just call in reinforcement.

My friend's niece was a server there... she said they are under new management... so maybe they will reopen. Everyone lost their jobs there, though. I think there were internal issues. IDK though.

There is a hardees accross the street... and a McD's up on 411. Then there is the local favorites Burt's and Lamp Post (Lamp Post is the most like Huddle House) - both of those are on 411. I can't tell you which is better... I don't eat out much. Both stay busy if that is a sign.

What chickens are you hoping for? I'm not attending this one... I have chickens for sale, so it wouldn't make sense to buy more. I have yet to make it out to the Amish market. I don't know what all they have (breed wise)... I know my first hatching egg sale ever was to a woman who sells in Delano. I have met some of my babies children and grandchilden (and great .... great great...) - she crossed mine with some Amish. So, I'm pretty sure they have Delawares. At least they did at one point. I kinda wish I had never done that. I breed for quality and cull accordingly and so my Dels are priced... she sells at a much cheaper price and I have a hard time selling Dels locally. Live and learn.

Well I bought land in Lawrenceburg! We will be tennesseans by fall!
I need to find someone local that will buy about 5 acres of pines and someone to do some bulldozering.
I am still in Alabama so this long distance searching is not going well at all.
TIA

do you have any Del pullets for sale? i'd love to pick some of those up along with the Marans i'm getting...

All the Del pullets I have are spoken for. I'm just keeping them until their new owner takes the trip to pick them up. I will be having more in the next month to two months, though. I know that doesn't save you a drive, but it's the best I can do right now. Sorry!

try the craigslist closest to Lawrenceburg. That is in west TN, right? I'm in East.... otherwise I would look at it. I would like some land near here. Maybe to buy or rent.

ok, i'll keep that in mind. the drive isn't really a big deal if you've got good quality Dels. i'm hoping for the old fashioned ones that are actually dual purpose like they should be, rather than the hatchery type ones that just look like Dels.

Hey Justin - good luck with the seniors and chicks. I've bought 4 times from the Amish and twice had eggs laid in the boxes on the way home. This last time I got 2 Australorps and they both laid when I got them home. I've seen BR, RIR, Seabrights, Red sex links, BO, SLW, GLW, Black Sex links, Speckled Sussex, Quail, pigeons, turkeys, ducks, and I think they even had a jungle fowl roo last time.

tnchickenut - I'd love to have a couple of Del pullets if you ever raise them up that far before selling. Don't think I've ever seen Delewares at the sale - but then, that place is a madhouse and everyone's just snatching and grabbing.

The Dollar General is next door to the Huddle House. I think the Huddle House will reopen soon.
Linda's Cafe is across the street behind BB&T Bank

Karen,
What about the time?? Is 0730 early enough, we'll be getting there between 0830 and 0900. Will everything be gone by then or will we be in good shape?
Thanks,
Justin
