my 4 roos all live together with all my hens. there is the occasional squabble because they all want to be the "big roo on campus" but, for the most part, they get along just dandy. so long as you have enough hens to keep them busy, i don't know why they shouldn't be fine together.

now, if you are set on keeping them separated from the girls for a particular reason, you will 100% want to make sure they can't see the ladies. that is asking for a blood bath.

this is probably not such a good idea. there are all kinds of disease risks associated with "traveling chickens." just like you kept Marbles isolated when he arrived, you'd have to do that with your stud roos. they'd have to be isolated for 4 weeks before and after visiting another property and each time you sent them to a new place, the risk for disease would be higher.

i'd stick with the good ole breeding and selling chicks method. that way, you still get your stud roos and can still make money off their progeny, just in a safe and controlled manner.

Hello all! Im just getting back into to chickens and Im looking for some Salmon Faverolle chicks. If anyone in surrounding counties of Knoxville have any that they would be inertested in selling, please pm me. Thanks.....

Fnky!

if you find some SFs locally, please let us know. i for one would be really glad to get my hands on some- after you get yours, of course!

Yes! I have found Silver a home. If you live in the Greenback area and have a sister, you may want to ask her if she signed you up for a new ro.

Has anyone else experienced a sharp drop off in production over the last week or two? I went from seven eggs/pay to just three for the last 10 days or so, and today there was only one egg. It seems too early in the year for molting....anyone else having similar problems?

severely. went from 10 or 11 a day down to 4 usually, and some really really bad days where it was just 1 or 2. i'm guessing it's the heat too, since the best egg days i've had recently have been cool and rainy. i put a turbine on my coop in the hopes that it will help, but i'll have to wait and see.
