A probe was sent into the 'past' and was found that it didn't show up in our world. So it was decided that this was an alternate 'past'. Make sense?

I think all the young adults on the show suffer from "Duddly Doright" syndrome. They are all just too good to be true, even the one who is talking to Mira. If the society and world that they come from is so awful, there is no way they would be so darn nice.
