How do you mix Terramycin? I purchased a 6.4 oz bag of the powered mix. It reads..add the following amount to 2 gallons of stock solution when proportioner is set to meter at the rate of 1 oz. per gallon. What is stock solution? Does it mean water? Then after I mix the powder to water..do I mix just one oz to another gallon of water? I don't mean to sound stupid, but I don't want to do anything to hurt my chickens? One of my Light Brahma's(that has had fluid build up on his chest) is now just standing around with his head down. Not active at all. He has had his fluid built up on him since he started getting his feather and has always acted just fine until now!! He is going on three months. I hope this medicine works. Can someone please help me and my little feather foot? I was also told to treat all my chickens. Do I dilute it different for different ages?

most give at the rate of 1-4 teaspoons per gallon of water. WES advises to start strong (4 tsp) for 4 days then cut in half for the next 6.
Make sure it is well dissolved before giving to your birds...it should be the only source of water for the duration of treatment.
Afterwards be sure to offer a good quality free choice yogurt daily for at least 6 weeks.

when I got my new chicks last year I asked the same question and was told 1teaspoon per gallon of water for 2 weeks, that's what I used and did not loose any of them, this was April 2007. goodluck marrie

A stock solution is just that, like a stock you use for a base. Kind of like fruit concentrate. That is a stock solution of juice and you take it to more water to make your final solution, or "working" solution.

Oh, and giving antibiotics without an active infection or as a preventative such as with new born chicks is now out dated and known to increase the probability of resistant bacteria you can't kill later.

Recently, I was in contact with one of the doctors on another website regarding a possible respiratory problem.

He wanted me to use a different antibiotic, but I asked him if I could use Terramycin. He said I could, but to use 1 TBSP per gallon of water, for 7 days.
