an araucana is a rump less south American bird with ear tufts, and is the original breed to lay blue eggs. They are very rare. An ameraucana was bred by cross breeding araucanas with large fowl breeds (I'm not sure which) so that you would get a chicken that lays blue eggs without the lethal chick killing gene that araucanas have. They look like a regularly feathered chicken, exept with a beard and muffs. Easter eggers are any mutt chicken that has the blue egg laying gene, and will lay any color from pink to olive drab. The can be clean faced, have ear tufts, or have muffs or beards. Hope this helps! What is the difference between a Easter Egger, and Ameracauna, and Araucana. I am not 100% sure myself, but I have a slight notion of what the answer is.![]()
Quote:Very good! I learned a little bit about the ameraucana too! I have "ameracaunas"- or rather EEs. I don't really care, they aren't for show.![]()
