here is my real question, and I do not know the answer, but will look it up if I need to, but I am betting you know the answer:

O.K.

Pure Bred Araucana's lay blue eggs. Some EE's lay blue eggs. But to produce a blue laying EE you need a blue egg laying Araucana and then you can cross it with a white egg layer like a WLH.
The blue gene is dominant over the white.
If you were to cross an Araucana ( blue egg ) with an Australorp ( brown egg ) your EE's would lay green eggs with some just laying brown eggs.
Also if you crossed a Maran ( dark brown egg ) with and Araucana ( blue egg ) then that's how you make Olive eggers.

I learnt this from here, ages ago. http://www.poultry.allotment.org.uk/Chicken_a/egg_shell_color/index.php This site just shows you the simple way of colours but as it says you can make many different shades depending on the individual. Some Australorps may lay darker eggs than others so if you used them in the cross then the off spring would lay darker shades of green.

Some duck breeds can lay greeny blue eggs.
