Yes, but I used to receive alerts just for the threads I visited and didn't get alerts for every new post in a particular foum section.
So, is there a way to only receive alerts from threads I have visited/subscribed to?
Go to the forums that you are getting unwanted alerts from and make sure that you have not subscribed to the forum. If the forum says Unwatch at the top, you are subscribed to it and need to click on Unwatch to stop getting those alerts.

I thought you had a hissy fit and left?

I tried testing it, and the buttons still looked pretty visible.

It is a huge step backwards from how it was before the update. In my browser, the size is much smaller plus there is the need to unnecessarily click on the 3 nearly invisible dots to get to the stage you are at.

It was designed for use with fairly modern browsers. You should see if you can get a browser that's at least somewhat newer, take a look at this one: https://www.palemoon.org/
Mozilla fork that's still updated.

Actually, that one may not work. Anyway, I don't think that developers can be blamed for shifting support away from very old browsers so they can add new features.
