So I bought some for my sick chickens and i dont know what to do for the dosage.
It says
400-800 mg for a gallon
I don't know how to convert that into teaspoons or tablespoons.
Can someone help me?
I have a rooster I need to get this into if someone could reply soon.
thanks

The package will have x drug, and y filler. Find out the ratio of drug to filler, then figure out by mass how much drug there is per gram of in ratio to the entire package, and dilute acordingly. You can make a 10x solution and take 1/10 of that to make a working solution to give. If you don't know if you are treating bacteria though, might be futile.

Im sorry im retarded with math.. even that doesn't make sence to me.
I think they have CRD
and the vet said to try it and at this point I don't care if they're wrong because nothing else is helping.

600 milligrams = 0.0211643772 ounces

0.0211643772 US fluid ounces = 0.126986263 US teaspoons

.13 teaspoons, half would be .50, quarter would be .25

So, you need 1/8 th teaspoon, or one half of a 1/4 teaspoon.

Does this sound right? Is sure isn't much, but that is the conversion. I suspect there might be a difference between dry and fluid wt., but this is the best I can do. Since time is critical, not much else I can say.

Cheri, hope your chicken makes it.....

Does your package say how much per gallon or anything like that?
And is it for chickens or some other animal?
(edited to add...Ok, reading your first post..400-800 mg per gallon..Lemme do the math..Darned my poor befuddled brain

You should give him some yogurt in the morning to help get his intestinal flora somewhat back to normal..

I'm about ready to hit the sack, but I wil stick around for a few minutes..

The 1/8th tsp sounds pretty close to what I have used in the past

When I'm trying to get just 1 chicken or rooster to "take their meds"
I'm finding that it's good to put it in something tasty..
My rooster wasn't interested in applesauce..But he sure liked the scrambled egg I gave him

I had just this problem last week and since I am brain dead with math and converting letter measurements to teaspoons/gallons, etc just did not compute - I called the 800 number for the company that makes it. Tne nice man I ended up talking to gave me the info I needed.

For a gallon of 600 mg dilution he said 1 tablespoon of powder meds. That was the Duramycin-10,

The package gives the different mg dilutions for different animal/poultry diseases.

He said he tells people to use fruit flavored geletin to help with the taste.

The phone number is on their website.

Wow, big difference in dosage. And why I did not think of telling you to look for a 1-800 number on the bag.....

Glad you got the dosage, best of luck.
