Such good advice on here today! It's a shame I don't have anyone to try it out on.


There is a possibility of a puppy litter (same breeder as I got Sasha from) coming up that will have Sable pups. I really want a sable puppy. If I get a puppy I will have to put getting chickens off for a bit longer. This is a hard decision to make! I have some time before I have to make it though. The female hasn't even come into season yet - she will be soon though.

That is a hard decision! You can get chicks pretty much any time, but puppies? Well, if you pass on this then it may be a long time before the chance comes around again!

I don't think there are chicken on the ships ... b'cause they can't swim.

Charlie is learning to move by himself, sliding very well now, so his grandpa had to take the bed frame away; time to put the mattress onto the floor so he can free to go where he wants, the sky is the limit. At 4 mo date, a friend stopped by to take some photos but I cannot post here since ... he was naked (a true Vietnam naked GaNoi). Back there, they love to take naked pix of baby as this is a tradition. Overhere, only a few on a registered list love to do that.

That is the my thoughts are going. Sasha is still young and playful now. I don't want to bring a puppy in when she is old and won't want to play. The breeder gets sables fairly often right now, but the trick is a sable female. She hasn't had any in a while now. I have a bit of time to decide. Thankfully.

I don't get 5 everyday..that's for sure..lol. But they've been doing pretty well, all things considered.

I found some beans I want to try next year. They sound good.

I.5 inches of rain today. The sun had come out but it is cloudy again. Not sure if we will get more or not. I love that it rains on my water day. I need to hand water a few things in the yard since many of my plantings are new, but over all I really haven't watered all of July. That is quite rare for Texas!


I want to make these. There is a dairy free version of sweetened condensed milk listed too!!! She has some good recipes on her site.

I'm leaning towards getting a puppy more than not. The last two litters Gill has had haven't had any sable pups so this may be my only chance for a bit. I wish I could do both chicks and a puppy. I don't see that mix working well though.

Cash still needs a bit of watching. Most of the bigger girls have made it known they don't play around..but he'll still plod on after Lil Blue sometimes.

Those look good by the way! I madea "Mounds" cake and it was amazing. Not at all healthy, but VERY delicious.

Nope. The coop is simply a box about 6 feet x 3 feet. 12 inches off the ground. It's in the back yard of my neighbors yard. I think they are just lazy.

Slowly I am turning my chicks that reach 2-4 mos old loose, a group of 4-7 at a time. I normally come to the ranch every 3-4 days. Each time I come, I am amazed of their growth after I turn them loose. One more thing, no matter how long they have been on the yard, they still walk together in their group. This proves the chicken has their own organization, with their own rule and leader. Something that human beings may want to learn from them.

Well, one more... about the language, when I travel to a new country, it takes about 2-3 mos to develop a niche to understand some of their words. However, raising these birds for years, imitating their sounds, their crowing ... still we don't know how to speak their language yet. I wish we can truly speak their language so we can tell them to "come here", "get back to your cage", or more important "don't eat your eggs", or "beware of coyotes" .... can anyone here do that yet??
